Gout is a chronic condition. It occurs against the background of metabolic disorders. As a result, an inflammatory process begins in the joints, they swell and constantly hurt. This is due to an increase in the amount of uric acid salts in the body. The kidneys are unable to remove it. Most often, pathology occurs against the background of the use of certain foods that contain a large amount of purines.
General description of pathology
For a long time, gout has been directly linked to overeating. Especially, if a person was fond of fish and meat, did not monitor the amount of alcohol in the diet. Usually, this pathology occurred exclusively in wealthy people who could afford a large amount of protein foods. When the diet was changed, the condition improved, but had to adhere to the strictest diet.
The results of modern research confirm that, indeed, the disease occurs against the background of the consumption of a large number of foods with purines. But we also found out that there is no need to completely abandon them. Compliance with the general principles of a healthy lifestyle is not excluded, that is, physical activity and proper nutrition are needed.
The normal level of uric acid in the body is from 180 to 530 μmol / L. With an increase in these indicators, not only gout appears, but also problems with blood pressure begin, the amount of cholesterol increases, and endocrine disorders begin.
