A phosphaturia diagnosis can shock anyone. In fact, this is a fairly common problem and is associated with the precipitation of insoluble salts. In fact, this is a violation of phosphate and calcium metabolism, against the background of which insoluble salts are formed, which turn into stones over time, with a gradual increase if no therapeutic measures are taken.
Usually, the patient does not understand for a long time that something is wrong in his body. Only with the formation of a large stone does the symptomatology begin.
Therapeutic measures in this case are based on drug therapy, spa treatment and healthy eating. Diet No. 14 is prescribed, which allows you to suspend the formation of new salt sediment and thereby improve the general condition of the patient.
Indications for the use of diet number 14
Phosphate stones can appear anywhere in the urinary system. With an increase in volume, they bring a lot of inconvenience to the patient, which can manifest itself in the following form:
- nausea and severe vomiting;
- constant heaviness in the bladder;
- flakes in the urine;
- increased flatulence;
- frequent urge to urinate.
In addition, pain in the kidney area may appear while walking and running, with strong physical exertion. If the phosphate formation has sharp ends, then it can injure neighboring organs and provoke an inflammatory process.
In most cases, the problem can be identified even by the appearance of urine, it will contain grains of a grayish tint, rather than resembling lace snowflakes.
Allocate primary and secondary phosphaturia. The first type can appear with a change in calcium-phosphate metabolism, with tuberculosis, and even in the presence of epilepsy or during neurosis. The secondary disease is associated with inflammatory processes in the urinary tract. For example, if prostatitis, pyelonephritis is diagnosed, then the risk of developing phosphaturia increases several times. At risk are people with chronic diseases of the lungs, gastrointestinal tract, diabetes mellitus. In children, pathology can be provoked even by ARVI.
If the balance between phosphate and calcium is imbalanced, diet is required in addition to drug treatment. It is aimed at restoring the normal pH in urine and is designed to prevent the formation of new stones, as well as:
- should reduce the amount of hydrochloric acid;
- reduce the excitability of the nervous system;
- normalize metabolic processes.
In the course of treatment, the amount of water in the diet necessarily increases.

Preventive measures
To prevent the appearance of phosphaturia, several rules should be followed. First of all, it is necessary to observe the drinking regime, consume about 1.5-2 liters of water throughout the day, although it is better to agree on the amount with the doctor, depending on the state of the body. Physical activity must be present in life, do any kind of sport, even simple walking or yoga. Keep track of body weight, even with a minimal increase, try to lose weight or find out the reason for the set, with its further elimination.
If you are at risk, then on a regular basis undergo an ultrasound of the kidneys, take urine tests. Prevent any risks that can trigger the appearance of stones or inflammation in the urogenital area.
Do not get carried away with diuretics on your own, even if they are made on the basis of herbs. Any, even phytotherapy , should be carried out accompanied by a doctor and with constant monitoring of test results.
